878 c. 1872 set of five imperforate tinted paper trials on unwatermarked paper each denominated 1d in reddish lilac, printed on thick wove paper tinted lilac, purple, brown orange, dark blue and pale blue. A highly unusual set which clearly had wider implications for the unappropriated die issue, with schemes on coloured paper mever advancing beyonf this trial.

Superb used huge four margin example lettered HL showing significant plate wear, neatly cancelled by a crisp red MC. Very rare with such large margins. Spec. AS3.

neatly cancelled by large part 'PRINCIPAL REGISTRAR GENERAL/MOMBASA/INLAND REVENUE' circular fiscal postmark, dated '5 DEC 1925'. Trivial wrinkle and paper inclusion mentioned for accuracy still a fine and attractive example of this spectacular high value. Rare. cat £2250

Fine large part o.g. (white gum) the vast majority very lightly hinged. A fine set with lovely fresh colours.

Superb used example lettered BE, beautifully cancelled by a crisp Dundee M.O.O. cds for OC.13.1894. A very difficult stamp to find so fine.
